NOTICE - OFFICE CLOSURE

The Wales Township Office will be closed to the public effective as of March 19, 2020. The staff will conduct business via telephone, email, fax and the mail. There is a dropbox at the side door to leave any documents , permit applications, etc. for your convenience. 

These measures are being taken to ensure the safety of the public and our staff because Covid-19. Thank You in advance for your understanding.

Michigan's Governor has placed the "Stay Home, Stay Safe" Executive Order in effect until June 12, 2020 and Wales Township will be reducing our hours and staff.

ELECTIONS

The next Election to be held in Wales Township will be the Primary Election on August 4, 2020. Residents wishing to be placed on the permanent absentee voter's list may call the office at (810) 325-1517, leave your name and number if you get the answering machine. You may also send your request by email to: wales@walestownship.org  Don't forget to leave your address along with your name and number.   

The Secretary of State's Office will be sending out Absentee Ballot applications to every registered voter not already on a permanent voters list. If you are interested in receiving an Absentee Ballot, just sign and date the application and return it to us. There is also a spot on the application to mark if you are interested in being placed on our permanent absentee voter list.

If you would like to register to vote, you may do so online or by mail. Go to: www.michigan.gov/elections

 PLANNING COMMISSION MEETING ( cancelled)

The next Planning Commission Meeting will be a Regular Meeting on *Monday, April 20, 2020 .   The meeting starts at 7:00 p.m. at the Township Hall. 

 All meetings are open to the public.

 TAX BILLS....

The 2019 Summer Tax Bills are due September 16th. , after that 1%interest will be added each month. If you have any questions feel free to give us a call.

The 2019 Winter Tax Bills are due February 14th, 2020, but may be paid until February 28th without penalty.

The Township Office will be open on Friday, December 26, 2019 from 9:00 a.m to 5:00 p.m and also on, Thursday February 28th  from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., to accept tax payments.

"Happy Birthday Wales Township"

On March 27th 2020 Wales Township was a 179 YEARS OLD.

The Township was organized on March 27, 1841, at which time it was considered one of the finest agricultural districts in St. Clair County. In 1890 the Township Hall was built and is now 129 years old, a lot of the building is still in the original materials.

TOWNSHIP PARK:  AN ALL PURPOSE BASKET BALL COURT HAS BEEN ADDED AND PARK BENCHES ARE COMING SOON. A WELL WITH A HAND-PUMP HAS BEEN INSTALLED NEXT TO THE PAVILION AT THE PARK. COME AND VISIT THE TOWNSHIP PARK AND THE PLAYSCAPE, THE CHILDREN WILL ENJOY IT. THE PARK IS LOCATED NEXT TO THE TOWNSHIP HALL ON WALES CENTER RD. THE PAVILION HAS PICNIC TABLES TO ENJOY A MEAL OR TO JUST SIT IN THE SHADE. ALSO AVAILABLE IS A GRILL AND WATER FROM THE HAND PUMP. A PORTA-POTTY IS AVAILABLE DURING THE WARMER WEATHER FOR YOUR CONVENIENCE.
